Bendigo Maubisse
Friendship Committee

History

The Bendigo Maubisse Friendship Committee (BMFC) was first appointed by the City of Greater Bendigo as a Section 86 committee under the previous Local Government Act 1989 in 2006 and operated in accordance with delegated authority. The BMFC carried out its duties with the knowledge that it was representing the City of Greater Bendigo.

Following changes in the Local Government Act 2020, BMFC’s Section 86 status was revoked and the committee was granted delegated status for a year before transitioning to an incorporated association in 2021, independent of the City of Greater Bendigo.

The organisation became incorporated on 21 June 2021 and is now known as Bendigo Maubisse Friendship Committee Incorporated. As part of this process, the group has become a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status.

The BMFC expresses sincere appreciation to the City of Greater Bendigo for its valued support, which for many years included a generous annual contribution. These funds enabled the committee to deliver meaningful projects to make a difference in the lives of Maubisse community members.
